How old must a baby be before I can figure out his or her 3-Step Pattern?
Within minutes of the baby’s birth, a new father held his son and figured out his 3-Step Pattern. You can, too.
How long does a person continue using the 3-Step Pattern? Does it stop at a certain age?
The need to move in the specific pattern stays with each human being for life. You can always help your child go through her pattern—and figure out your own and use it too, for that matter.
My baby is twisting instead of staying straight. What am I doing wrong?
It could be that your baby is physically uncomfortable: hungry, has gas, etc. Take care of any needs your baby has. Then try again later when both of you are relaxed and comfortable.
What about "Shaken Baby Syndrome"? Can this harm my baby?
DO NOT SHAKE BABY. Baby is always held in a protected position. The degree of the movement can vary from subtle to more distinct according to baby's needs AND must never be jarring or rough.
My grandmother is in a wheelchair; can she still do my baby’s 3-Step Pattern?
Certainly. All the movements can be done seated. She can either reposition the baby or use her own gentle body movements.
How do I know if I am doing the correct movement?
Your baby will tell you if you are doing the correct movement by either relaxing or become tenser.
If your baby’s tension level decreases, then continue that movement
If your baby’s tension level increases then switch to a different movement.
I’m teaching the caregiver my baby’s pattern. How long should I ask her to perform each movement for?
Remind the caregiver that the key is how tense or relaxed your baby is. Continue each movement until your baby ‘”melts,” then switch to the next movement in the pattern. If there is a smooth transition and baby seems to stay mostly relaxed, continue; if not, go back one step.

"I am a grandmother of 5 and since I bought the baby rocking sheet and applied the simple
tricks, I have been the most popular grandmother. When it's time to put the babies to sleep or if they are fussing, I use the easy techniques and it's a miracle, it works every time. Sometimes the simplest things are the best medicine. I would recommend it for any parent or grandparent."
